Antar Martin, Upright and Electric bassist, and composer/arranger from Toledo, Ohio, is a versatile and expressive musician in San Diego’s Community of Musicians.

Classically trained on violin from age 10 and transitioning to bass at 12, this was a major turning point for Antar as his creativity started to blossom from being exposed to music atypical to his surrounds, from artists such as Leo Kottke, Etta Baker, Seamus Egan, and Tony Geballe to name a few, these kinds of sounds help to navigate through the world of artist like Bill Evans, Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane and the like.

Antar excelled in music all through school in classical and jazz capacities. After high school, Antar enlisted in the US Navy as a Musician. While living in San Diego, Antar has played with Gilbert Castellanos, Charles McPherson, Kamau Kenyatta, Mikan Zlatkovich, John Cain and Joe Morillo in addition to many other musicians in San Diego. He was also in the bass section of the La Jolla Symphony Orchestra for three seasons.
