“ THIS group of seven musicians came together in 2003 to play traditional jazz in the New Orleans Dixieland style. Members of the Uptown Rhythm Makers also play in or lead at least 16 other local bands and orchestras, all well known in Dixieland trad circles. Inspired by New Orleans dance bands of the 1920s, and New Orleans revival bands of the 1940s through 1960s, the group enjoyed an 11-year residency of monthly swing dances at Claire de Lune in North Park.
Their album New Orleans Shuffle was released in 2014. As of 2016, they were playing venues all around town, as well as private parties and weddings, including monthly sets at the Black Cat. ”

“ The Uptown Rhythm Makers have been infusing authentic New Orleans style traditional jazz and swing into the San Diego music scene since 2003. Their repertoire of classic jazz and swing favorites, especially the hot jazz dance music of the 1920s and 1930s have made the band an absolute favorite of San Diego’s swing dance community. ”
